How many new patients does a dental clinic need per month?

By the SA-Dental team · Bilingual dental marketing agency

The question isn't 'how many patients do I want', but 'how many do I need to hit my revenue goal'. With three numbers you can calculate it in a minute.

The simple formula

New patients needed = monthly revenue goal ÷ (average ticket × close rate). If your goal is $60,000, your average ticket is $6,000 and you close 40%, you need about 25 consults to close 10 cases.

The factor almost no one adds: show rate

If only 50% of booked patients show up, you need to book twice as many to get those 25 consults. Raising the show rate to 89% halves how many leads you need.

Full example

  • Goal: $60,000/mo · Ticket: $6,000 · Close: 40% → 10 cases = 25 consults.
  • With 50% show rate → you need ~50 booked appointments.
  • With 89% show rate → you need ~28 booked appointments.
  • Same result, almost half the marketing effort.
